I had always wondered how web designers worked. Sat at their PC all day, surfing various websites such as google, AOL and Yahoo to find their ultimately sought knowledge and files. All they seem to do is surf the web all day. How can that be entertaining?
I decided to enter the world of a web designer, only for 1 day though.
My morning started by eating a good, hearty breakfast. After all, sitting at the PC all day using google to find everything would be hard work. I would need to prepare myself for the frantic clicking and mashing of the keyboard, and the occasional screaming when the page didn't load within the allocated 0.5 seconds.
I decided, first, to surf the web. Get to know the basics of things about the cyber world. I did actually find this very entertaining, as certain sites such as Google and Myspace were very fun to use. Especially talking to my friends over Myspace with the new IM feature.
After a very warm lunch (rice with chili and a nice, hot cup of hot chocolate) I chose to have a little break, by sitting back and watching television. After all, I couldn't spend my whole day sat by the pc. I could only surf the web so much in one day.
I know it wasn't the way of the techie, but I had had enough for one day. I just couldn't handle any more of the cyber world, and all of the "pop ups" and websites trying to sell me their wares. I could not take anymore of the constant coding and inefficientness of having a virtual life.
I rushed for the phone, before it was too late. I frantically dialled my friends mobile phone number before I was sucked into the cyber world. I was drastically clinging onto the table so that the pc would not engulf me and take me as its cyber prisoner.
"Katie, we have to go out. NOW" I said.
"Why?" she replied.
"It's an emergency. If you don't I may die" I responded.
OK. It was a bit over the top. But it just shows how addictive computers are.
